Two way trigger of you're trying avoid otter and muskrat with 330s or you're fairly clumsy with the trap. 4 ways when you want everything.
What makes a 4 way trigger more sensitive is that the trigger can be bumped sideways and it will fire. A 2 way the only way for it to fire is the trigger to swing.

I wont set a trap one dry ground for mink unless it is a 4 way. I think most mink are caught pushing the triggers down or to the side, depending on your trigger configuration, rather than pushing the forwards. Under water I dont think it matters. THIS. Wire kits between the trigger rods will increase catches on mink also
TILL THAT DAY.....

The notch on the trigger is shaped like this \_/ instead of the normal |_| This ^^^^ plus a bit more. Below are two Victor 110's. Bottom is the old square jaw style. NOT 4 way. Notice the tight, square notch. Top IS 4 way. Bottom of notch is tight and fits dog snug, top is wide. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-51773-247079-img_1534.jpg) But second part is on the old style, the clip fits the jaw snug. It will rotate, but not rock side to side. Below is the Duke 4 way, but Victor looks the same. Notice the oblong shape to clip as it fits on the jaw, which allows it to rock side to side. As it does, it pries the dog up and trap fires. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-51773-247080-img_1537.jpg) Below is a Duke 5 x 5. Clip has same oblong shape and if pried up from the side, it will also fire. That makes Duke a 4 way too. To be sure, set and tested a Duke 110, pressed straight sideways on trigger wire and trap fired, making it a 4 way too. Notch on the Duke is a bit wider than the Victors. As such, you can improve sensitivity by where you leave the dog in the notch. If you were offset the clip.......say 1/3 rd to the left, leaving 2/3 rd to the right, assumption is animal will try to pass to the right. In doing so, trigger wires push to the left, and the left side of the clip lifts first. So leave the dog in the notch on side away from largest opening and it will fire faster and easier. Granted, it isn't much, but doesn't take much.
