Asking for a friend because all my guns were lost in a boating accident…..:

He does not want to pay 500 for a sight
Anymore using something cheaper?

Vortex came up with good reviews

vortex and possibly hollow sun

I would get the vortex that way if you break it they replace it

I have a couple of the vortex dots

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Leupold delta pro goes on sale in summertime for $350. Summertime is best time to buy Leupold stuff on sale.

Check out Riton Optics.

I’ve had one on my daily carry pistol for a year now.

So far so good.

Is there an optics cut on the slide? Check Holosun sights.

No
Holosun uses two different base plates

The “footprints” of all the various makes and models can give a guy a headache.

Wish there’d be a bit more standardization.

I've got two holosuns, one on a S&W 629, and one on a glock 20. They are both good but pricey. I've got three Hawke optics on my turkey guns. They are wide view circle dot or circle or 2 moa dot. I like them better than the holosuns. The hawke optics have shake awake just like the holosuns, one off the holosuns has auto brightness that works off of the solar panels. It gets too bright in the daylight and obscures the target some. You can adjust them dimmer. The holosuns were expensive, the Hawke optics wide view has a larger reticle the same series of dots, no solar charge/auto brightness like the holosuns and is about half the price. The hawke is 189 dollars on optics planet right now. The hawke mounts to picatinny/weaver rails no plates needed. I just picked up a S&W model 57 41 magnum and its going to have the Hawke wide view on it. If you need to mount an optic on a revolver I suggest checking out Weigand mounts. The newer smith revolvers have sight screws in the top straps to remove the rear sight and put the rail on, I have them on different revolvers and pistols. My two cents worth I hope this helps you with all the different sights and mounts.

I’ve had a FFIII on my turkey gun for about 10-12yrs now and can’t destroy it. It’s traveled the country and keeps going. I change the battery about every 2 years or so just because I don’t want to be out of state somewhere in the middle of nowhere and it fail on me. I “try” and keep a spare in my vest but end up losing it sometimes.

Wanne Be I keep spares in my vest also. Lately I have taken to secureing one on the stock with tape. Leave the plastic on the battery before taping. You can also use the non sticky camo wrap tape. Never had a bettery go down hunting but I like redundacy.

May have to look into those Hawkes. My son found a misprint online on a FFIII for like $135 or some crazy price and sent me the link. I ordered 2 immediately, lol. Got my order confirmation number and started calling buddies. By the time they got on the site they’d changed the price to a more “normal” price. May be a while before I need another, but I’m sure I can find a reason.

Vinke, if your talking about a glock 27 or 26 check out the Glock Store online, they are in nashville. They will mill your slide for a plate of your choice, or a co-witness slot for the optic of your choice. They advertise a ten day or less turn around time. The prices seem reasonable. They will also install the optic for you and ship it back. You just send the slide in.
