Just curious if anyone knows about this company or has dealt with them?

My ner-do-well brother-in-law has had a couple from this business watching him and trying to "serve him papers" this week or so. They drive a Cali plated SUV. My BiL is not the brightest tack in the box and typically owes someone money (he's in his late 60s) but I would think it would have to be a fairly big pay out for a Cali based company to send people to South Dakota and hang out for multiple days.

I suspect this is some sort of next step in bill collecting or he fathered a kid in the past who is still a minor and the mother now wants years of back child support. My BiL is, like I said, a ner-do-well, so unless they can garnish a SS "check", they will be waiting a long time to get any money. Unless these guys starts having some break his arms and legs.

I guess we'll find out sooner or later...

P.S. My BiL still works about three-quarters time at a major retailer so I suppose they could garnish his checks from there but why not just serve him at his work place? Odd stuff...

It seems like someone or some business paid a good amount to Blue Sky have them shadow your BIL.

Must be a good amount of money in dispute to make it worth their while.

Eh...wot?

They used a pre made, stock format for a website, that's cheaply available to anyone, that is frequently used by just starting security and investigative companies, that can't afford technical writers. I was in that industry for 18 1/2 years and saw numerous small companies, which all failed, use that format.

Their "investigators" are likely not working for much more than minimum wage.

One of the tricks that web format recommends to users is to add cumulative experience, to make the company look better than it is.

"Our professional investigators are experts in the industry with over 20 years of experience to help you with your case"

That sounds good until you realise it means there is multiple people who only have a total of a little over 20 years experience, likely gained by sitting on their rear ends in a guard shack, or at a desk in a factory or warehouse.

Small security and investigative companies start up and fail all the time. A great many guards and investigators start their own companies, thinking it's easy and they can make more. But like in every other enterprise, there's a lot more necessary to be successful at it. Insurance and office costs are crippling for a small company, until it reaches a sufficient volume of business.

Does BIL like to gamble?

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

I pulled the license information on Blue Sky. They were started in 2020 and only have a PO box, instead of a physical address.

Good point but why would a company do so, cheaper states to plate a rental fleet. Unless Cali gives rental car companies a break over private citizens.

Thanks for the research, Keith C!!

No idea, but every hunter I guide who flies into either Idaho or Wyoming and rents a car, they have California plates. There must be some business reason that rental companies license their rigs in California.
