So today I nailed down an out of state trip with a buddy. We are trapping a private hunting property BUT there is lots of state/government land right down the road. With the higher possibility of theft I'm gonna set my better traps on the private and looking at the dukes for a cheaper option on the public. Wanted to see if of you had fooled with them or maybe have something to say about them. (Side note: I will not be modifying them more than adding an extra swivel. Cheaper for me to buy fully mods than to modify)

The pan can hold the levers open a bit if not ground down some between the levers. Other than that not a bad trap.

For what you describe I wouldn't even go that nice. Just get some regular dog on Duke 2's or 3's, can probably find some used ones for extra cheap. They will do the job just the same

Gotta live up to the nickname...

I'm sure they're alright. I love my Bridger dogless fully modified, but can understand your reasoning for not modifying.

Maybe find some old Monty #2 dogless. They have strong springs and lie flat. I have about a dozen for use where I my catch a fox. Jaws are easy on feet so a catch can usually be released with minimal problems.

I've handled but not used the Dukes. Seemed like a really good trap. I'm sure they would be well suited to your needs.
