I'm inundated with two types of calls lately. One is for supplemental health insurance to go with my Medicare. I thought the open enrollment ended on December 7th. After that date, the calls eased up a lot, but now they're back again. When I tell them I have Tricare for life, they hang up on me. The phone numbers show up on caller ID as towns in NC.

The other calls are for burial insurance - lol. I tell them I'm not there yet.-

Yes. I quit answering calls I dont recognized. I answer and immediately hang up. I tried letting them go to voice mail in case it was a call I wanted to return but never get a message. Call the number it shows and its a nonworking number. Answer and quickly hang up I seem to get fewer. They all have some strange accent if I answer. I suspect they are fishing info to steal from you.

There is a setting on my phone that I use that automatically blocks all calls from people that are not in my contacts list. It sends them directly to my voicemail. If it's legit they can leave a message and I can cal them back. Mostly never leave a message. You can set up your texts to be the same.

I don't know if it would work for someone like Paul who uses his phone for business but it works great for me. I'd imagine most cell phones would be capable of doing this.

My wife gets them all the time has for a couple of years and she's couple years away from being eligible. I have never got 1 call about insurance.iam not on Facebook so not sure if that makes a difference or not.

I am not on face book but have had the same phone number probably 20 years at least. Eventually it gets out.

I have a phone setting that allows me to forward all those nuisance calls to GREENCOUNTYPETE.

I get them too...one right around 9 am then at lunch time...12 or so then one a dinner time at 5 or so. What fires me up is when you pick up no-one on the other end??
I'm like Danny now...don't answer unless I recognize the number. I let questionable calls go voice mail...waste of my time.

There's a way they can make it look like the call is local too.

When I HAD a phone, I kept a sports horn handy, so when some bunghole calls me up in spite of the "NO CALL" list, I'd just give them a 1 second burst then hang up. I'm pretty sure they all use a headphone type system for hands free use, and it isn't easy to quickly get that thing off your head! ROTFLMAO

Get a lot of morons wanting to buy my house. I ripped into a woman the other day real hard, I bet she's still talking about me. I block all of them.

They send out “feeler” calls by computer. If you ever answer you go into the mass calls group. If you notice once you get one call then it’s 10 in the same couple days. If you don’t know who it is don’t answer. If they want you they’ll leave a message

Probably going to jinx myself saying so. But I don't get to many of the trash calls anymore. Was complaining to a guy I know worked at phone company. He said best thing to do if you can't block the number. Is to not answer and let it go to voice mail. The people that make the calls actually have a computer dialing multiple numbers. They talk to the first person that picks up. So if you pick up and talk to them even to say no to something. They now know they have and active number. That keeps you on the list for the next product their selling or a scam if that's their thing. I realize people running a business maybe can't sort caller ID like I do.
I have noticed we get more calls at the start of the month. Not sure why thst is. But not getting as many as before.

I get the Google ads phone calls that want to verify the business, yes I’m excepting more customers no I’m not paying for them. Most of the time it’s some town in Oregon I have never heard of, and I have been all over the state.

I got the triple whammy - calls for me, my elderly father's phone forwards to me, and I still get calls for my mother that has passed - 6 years ago

I use the four ring rule auto dial hangs up after four rings as I have found out and if they do get through to landline I ask how they got an unlisted number and they hang up really not getting many of those calls these days.

Grand kids are great in the right age.

Never answer a call you don't know. Even picking up and hanging up alerts them to activity and they'll keep calling your number. Once I stated doing this and got on a no call registry I get absolutely zero spam/scam calls

I got 17 and the wife recorded 12 today. Good thing “silenced unknown call” is working!

Been getting unwanted calls from NC town of Knotts Island.

My wife has this down, she can sound just like a amped up chinese woman and spews jibberish at them...I tried it myself the other day, and just kept repeating "ching-chang" over & over...Turns out that is a bonafide Asian ethnic slur! ...They never called back, Lol.

Gid get 3 calls and some mail from a bank wanting to give e a credit card,lol.
I tell them I dont believe in credit and credit is why there is so much scamming going on,that kind of leaves them speechless long enough for me to hang up.
I did get a call this morning from the trapstore in N Bay,my tanned fur is in the mail.

I blocked about 35 different numbers. social security seems to let them know when we hit Medicare age. They started just after the paperwork started from ssa. AND THEY ALL WANT TO RIP YOU OFF.

I had to get DOT numbers for our business and made the mistake of using my actual phone number. I get 3-5 calls a day and at least that many texts from compliance companies. My old Google phone used to be good at filtering them as spam but the new Samsung doesn't.

We cut the landline off here because of those calls

we stopped answering the land line years ago , I use it for work for outgoing calls only

I spend hours a day on the phone for work , I have an old school Plantronics over the head , headset

my longest single call to date is 11 hours 40 minutes but I have gotten over 10 hours a few times.

people break stuff and the call doesn't end till we have it fixed or are converted to whatever backup plans we have in place or just created.

although admittedly a lot more of it is moving to teams , zoom and webex , there are days I don't pick up the phone headset anymore , just go teams meeting to teams meeting all day.
the phone and bridge is a good backup yet.
I also have a quality over the head headset on my pc because 3-4 hour calls are frequent and multiple 2 hour calls in a day is the norm.

We're on the do not call list and still get calls all day long. We let the answering machine screen them, they usually use a town name on the caller ID, so I don't know what they're selling, we don't answer it

I have a landline. Had one since I bought the place before cell phones. Most of the junk calls I get no one is on the other end. Get political surveyors which I dont answer. I want to know what a politician thinks not have them tell me what I want to hear. Every now and then I get a call on it from someone claiming to be from the electric company wanting to give me a 30% discount or something. Get calls from my TV service even though I dont have a TV service. Nothing like the Iranians calling my cell though.

Ever since I set my cell phone so unknown numbers go straight to voicemail yesterday I have not gotten a scammer. No voicemail either or missed call notice. Thanks again ADC.

If I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer it. If they don’t leave a message I block it. If they do leave a message and it’s a solicitor I block it. Bet I have blocked 10,000 numbers.

I don't answer unknown callers, had well over a thousand blocked calls, I finally stopped blocking them cause it never really helped....no call list is a joke, they go to voice mail now and I just delete them unless they leave a message....they rarely do unless it's political calls during the silly season.

When I see the spam notice on my phone screen I start speaking Vietnamese. Can't figure out why they hang up.
