has anybody been to the annual NWCOA conventions? I guess next years is in Vegas. I may consider going if there's a positive response, however I'd prefer to save the cost if the content that they present is basic and low level. Thanks for the input

I went to the one in Orlando a few years ago. It was useful and I learned a good deal. Personally, I found the vendor exhibits more useful than the seminars. But the seminars weren’t bad. You never know what products are out there that can make your life much better.

I have gone to the last several and and look forward to going again in the future.

As mentioned, the exhibition hall has vendors showing off the latest and greatest exclusion products, new technology, and gadgets. It's a great way to learn about their products and services.

The seminars are a mixed bag, as some presenters are excellent, some aren't. In the three years I have attended, I think there were only two presentations that felt were sub par.

In my opinion the best part is connecting with other operators. You can learn a lot at the bar or sitting with others at lunch. My expo highlight this year was chatting with an operator from Iowa for 2 hours. He shared how he handles certain jobs. That talk is going to help me make money and provide a better service.

The information and tips you pick up will help your business. If you go, don't be a wallflower. Have a goal of meeting a handful of people each day and talk with them. You will leave a better operator!

Nwcoa also has training courses before and after expo. Their programs are excellent.

Post script. . . WCS's founder, Alan Huot (spelling?) passed away a couple of years ago. They have a couple scholarships in his name. One is to pay for someone's expo registration. Look into that if you want to go. I dont think anyone applied this year.
