My wife and I had this conservation recently. A spirit animal that aligns with your personality or represents you in some way. Maybe an extreme adherent/believer of totem or spirit animals even calls upon them for strength or wisdom.

I finally admitted mine is probably the rat. Smart, resourceful...a little mischievous. At home in messy conditions and very persistent, perhaps gluttonous. Hard to kill.

....and it turns out my wife's is the hawk! laugh

What is yours....and why?

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I live next to the Seneca reservation and have always been called Turtle by my friends. To the Senecas the turtle carries the great tree of life on its back. [Linked Image]

So how does it work? Do you just pick one? I am not real interested in dancing naked without water or something till I have a vision.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

If I had to choose one it would be the mountain lion.
I’m not sure how it works either…whether you choose or take a test or it comes to you in a dream?
According to a certain Native American horoscope type calendar, I’m an Otter
Years ago in psychology, a book on the four types of intimacy (animal types) also told me I’m an Otter.

Most people would chose something like a bear or lion or something else majestic, but the fact is you can't choose. It comes to you in a dream and it'll tell you. One would think great people like Crazy Horse would be something like a grizzly but in fact he's was the prairie dog. Here one second, dissappear only to pop up someplace else. Being able to do this helped him become a great warrior.

20 scout is right, you don't pick. it comes in a vision or dream, everyone wants to be a bear or wolf or some other "majestic" creature, it can be a frog, bug, or other "lower" life form, doesn't matter as they're all important. So be careful what you wish for, lol

I did the vision quest back in the 90s, it consisted of fasting for 24 hours with only taking in wild lettuce that was made into a tea. It's a natural laxative. It was winter and I was taken into a sweat lodge and given a large mug of some disgusting drink that had crushed morning glory seeds in it. About 8 hours later I was escorted outside ( naked) and left in the cold for what seemed like forever, but I was told later it was only an hour.
I had a vision and my spirit animal is the snake.
So that's my totem animal

I think I'll just choose some critter from my recliner instead.

That's not how it works.
