The goldens are getting bad on lambs.

Balds are just glorified buzzards.

I don’t care much for either of them. They’ll wreck a lot of fur for a guy snaring.

I’ll never understand this country’s obsession with birds of prey. They aren’t endangered and there is more hawks, eagles etc now than there was 500 years ago. We put fence posts and telephone poles all across the landscape allowing them to just hang out and wait for a prey item to show themselves instead of soaring around. All that energy saved sitting on a post and hunting more efficiently just propagates the things. Couple that with easy meals like road kill and more rodents in ag fields and you have way too many raptors.

We used to have an eagle hang out by one of our duck blinds. Every now and again it would glide down and snatch one of our birds if we didn't pick em up fast enough. We called it "paying our taxes". lol

Yup, glorified buzzard.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

We say the same. Tax man got us.

Same when a shark takes their cut of a fish.

I've been telling people for years that they need to open a season for them around here.

Several times while trapping the rivers for MSU we’d see huge rafts of ducks ahead of us. About the time we’d see the ducks a Bald Eagle would come flying toward the ducks but about tree-top high, The ducks would all take off which in itself was something to see, hundreds if not a thousand ducks jump off the water and fly. Well, the kicker was that once the ducks got into the air, here would come 1-2 other eagles flying low and they’d grab ducks that were either too slow or sick. I watched this happen at least 3-4 times and it looked like a system the eagles had worked out!!

I was checking mink traps on a river after the Prj and I was at a bend in the river. I looked up and here flew a Great Blue Heron flying like it’s tail was on fire heading downriver. I don’t think I’d ever seen a Heron fly like that before. About 30’ behind the Heron was a Bald Eagle powering it on the Heron’s butt. I watched them until they flew around the next bend but I think the heron was a loser that day!

They are a real pain once the novelty wears off. raid your catches even in the water unless deep.

Yep. And they tear the back out of everything they drag up.

The white heads can be a PITA here. Mostly on or close to the beaches, not so much in the timber.

I would enjoy and like having less around. They decimate the trout ponds.

I'd seen eagles in the area on this river I was float trapping last spring so I was only surprised that the trap hung-up on the float, leaving the beaver exposed right on the surface. What happened to the beaver's back wasn't rocket science!.
