The silvers runs are probably worse than the King runs in Cook Inlet, fortunately we are still in denial.
Who is John Galt?

My friends always want me to bring them back salmon. So I give them the fillets, and keep the bellies for myself. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-6517-248382-20210703_214045.jpg) This, but I keep the collars also. Folks really appreciate the nicely trimmed fillets. Like this? People don't know what they're missing. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/02/full-6517-248393-20210715_123957.jpg)

King salmon runs are struggling everywhere. Halibut spawning biomass at a 40 year low. Same day a roughly 20% reduction in sport, commercial and subsistence it was announced that pollack trawlers had dumped 99K lbs of baby halibut in the past week, fishing “mid water” gear in designated nursery zone, and roughly 300 chinook per day for the past month It's almost like you can't rototill the bottom of the ocean year round and still maintain a healthy ecosystem. Areas closed to bottom Trawl to protect habitat and Benthic Fish are "midwater" trawled by boats that drag the bottom up to 100% of the time. Crooked.

I eat salmon because it's plentiful, I eat lingcod or halibut if I want to enjoy eating fish. I don't dislike salmon, I'm just tired of it I give away most of the Salmon I catch. Two days of limiting is a year supply at my rate of consumption.

Two days of limiting is a year supply at my rate of consumption. I just dipnet until the pile looks bigger than what I want to fillet. I always get it all done, even though sometimes I wish I'd quit fishing a bit sooner
