I had 4 Minnesota mid-November reds that were sold a couple weeks ago to a local buyer. Three went for $20. One at $15. All were finished. I discovered washing hides made a huge difference. They fluffed up nicely and the buyer appreciated that. Like selling a used car. Clean it up a bit and it’ll catch more attention and buyers can see what they’re buying too.

I have thirty reds to sell.
Thanks to all who suggested the Idaho Sale. I'm going to look into it.
I'm guessing the shipping will kill you. But look into it and crush the numbers.

Yeah, I've been shipping to Tubari but my previous buyer was paying for that. They'd tan them and ship to him.
But I know the high costs involved in shipping.
Eh...wot?

I have used pirate ship recently to ship. It's easy. Login to Pirate Ship, enter too and from addresses, measurements and weight of the package then look at price options based on carrier. then purchase and print the paid shipping label. All my packages with them have gone through UPS and USPS at significantly lower prices than I would have paid to UPS or USPS.
Check out how much Pirate Ship will save you before mailing packages.

I'm pretty certain that even after deducting shipping costs you would be better off getting them out west. Like Nancy said. Lot them in probably three lots. If there is any difference in quality put all your best in one lot rather than trying to distribute them evenly in the lots. Rusty will likely tell you to put color coded small zip ties on each pelt in the different lots to help keep them separate.

Washed hides look so much better. brushing before skinning and after turning fur out make a big difference too. An air nozzle with some strong pressure over the finished fur makes it fluffier than anything else ive tried so far.

Lugnut, I was curious have you figured out what the cost to ship 30 reds out to Idaho will be?

Amish guys I know shipped to someone in Iowa last year, and got 10.00-14.00 for reds. I helped him skin his first Honey Brook, PA coyote recently, when he said are shipping again this year. They don’t have many, only 11 reds. Wow, its gotten to the point where you have to ship a half a country away to get 12.00 a pelt.....

Lugnut, I was curious have you figured out what the cost to ship 30 reds out to Idaho will be? Crickets are chirping.....what's the outcome ? The young lad going with the GFW truck is pumping out a few more updates ( ytube) on their buying route and some interesting fur history being discussed

Sorry, didn't see the last three posts on this thread.
Rusty got back to me with info on shipping out there but I haven't gotten prices together yet.
I know it cost $51.95 to ship 18 reds to Tubari in NJ two years ago. USPS added a $15.00 charge for a "Non-Standard Volume" over two cubic feet) and $7.00 for Non Standard Length (over thirty inches).
Eh...wot?
