I can skinny dip in my pond and not worry about going to jail.

We live on a little worn out farm below the prairie. The weather is good for our area and we raise good gardens, deer, cattle, pigs, and chickens. It's like heaven here because it's quiet, there's a lot of wildlife. Trapping, hunting and fishing right out my door. Only a few neighbors. Most don't think of Illinois as a good state for this but it is. Trapping rules are easy and there are no limits accept for otters, bobcats, and badgers. I got a triple on otters in the ditch that runs in front of my house. I've trapped 89 coyotes by this corn crib in the 18 years I have lived here. I enjoy it - our sunsets are epic. Many of our creeks are prairie creeks turned into ditches like the one below. They have a lot of wildlife in them. We have a lot of birds. In the spring it gets pretty noisy with everything from humming birds to bald eagles. The grass is soft and we lay out at night on blankets and watch the stars and share popcorn.

Backroads., Angela, thank you for your thoughts. Angela, I really like your shots too. Seeing your peaceful dirt country roads and trails through pretty trees makes me want to ride a horse along them and admire the views. The only thing is, I have a hard time with heat and humidity. So that ride would have to be done in winter !

Really nice shots from everyone.

I fish Copper Basin every year. The only problem more and more people are camping there.

Yep, it seems all my old haunts and secret places are being discovered as well.

I love all these pictures. Many city dwellers will seldom have the opportunity to see the beauties we outdoorsman behold on a daily basis.

Something special about owning your own piece of dirt.
I own 2 tracts totaling 224 acres. It’s not much, but it’s places I love and spend a heckuva bunch of time improving for wildlife.
Pretty cool to share it with family and friends. [Linked Image]

All hunts on my 2 places.
Never heard anyone say “I wish I wouldn’t have bought that property”.

My backyard view ain’t that pretty like some of yours. But I got 3.5 acres and it’s home. We get a lot of deer through and I keep a pile of corn at the far corner going so they hang around.
More fun than a bird feeder.

Got a fire pit and a hot tub.

All is good here.

Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Back nearly 50 years ago I was determined to move to Montana. Fell in love with the mountains and the life removed from urban (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). Well, life circumstances changed that to remaining in WI and making a life here. For almost 50 years I’ve never felt “at home” like I do in CO, WY, and MT. However am realizing home is where you make the majority of your best memories.

A relationship that is amazing with my parents, my wife, raising my daughters, tolerating my SIL, and visualizing what I will pass to my grandson. The skills I’ve learned, the 1000’s of people I’ve guided and outfitted, designing and building amazing custom homes. At the end of the day or week, I’ve enhanced a little 100 acre parcel that gives back to the habitat and almost 100% self sustaining. To sit any time of year in one of my stands and watch the critters is incredibly relaxing.

The only thing worse than losing........Is QUITTING!
