My opinion your giving up the bird in hand for two in the bush True. When he's rubbing you know where his foot is. I wonder the refusal rate on a rub set?

I feel rub set sets are probably the best of sets for Cats.
I always make 3-4 sets for bobcat's, some times it 30-40 days before they cycle through again.
Cat's are Cats, some days there just not feeling it. lol
Let me sugar coat this

Well said beartooth trapper. Rub sets constructed well and on a travel way will net you lots of action. Taking advantage of their behavioral traits certainly plays well for the tuned in trapper. I was going to take a picture of a set I had out a couple weeks back. This was a tree that had fallen parallel to a ATV trail coming off a hill side into a big grown over field. The top had been cut out where it had protruded into the trail with the cut off being about 18 inches off the ground. It's a wide trail and I didn't attempt to block it down. It had me wondering if I had any cats pass close by without actually rubbing. This set produced 3 coons and 2 cats in the 12 days it was set, the last cat who instead of heading up hill where the trap was cabled, like the other catches did, decided to destroy that set instead. That's why no picture. Both cats I caught by the back foot which was unusual for me since the front foot catch on rub sets seems more common at least for me. I wondered if this was coincidence or if it was because the rub ran more parallel to the trail than perpendicular. By the way, that magic in a bottle that you sell was the rub lure used. The cats sure love that stuff.
