Noah, I found this yesterday. I can't find a date and I have never seen one before, that I remember anyway. I think it was used between the 30's to 50's
It’s a Kimble Glasstite Float.
I looked it up and it was a float for a toilet.
I find all kinds of stuff around bridges while beaver trapping.

That's neat. Knew they msde glass fishing floats. Never would have though toilet tank float. Something more to look for dump picking.

I didn't know they made floates for fishing nets

Japanese nets use them a lot and one can find them washed up on western shores (usually Alaska) after a big storm

All gill nets around here had floats. Weights on the bottom and floats on top. Otherwise they'd just fall to the bottom all wadded up. Seines are set up the same way. I haven't seen a glass one in a very long time but the plastic ones still roll up on lake Eries beaches now and then around here

Just read an article about the floats for fishing nets. I think they said red colored ones were the rarest. Very cool find!!! Eric
