Grew up in western NY. A neighboring town had a road named "Creek road". In 20-some years never heard a single person pronounce it any way other than crick.

Yuins what live next to cricks. Do y'all warsh your trousers in those cricks? If you were to read "creek", would you still say crick? I would be cool with that, but I don't understand why you feel the need to spell it wrong though. Regional dialect. I have a great employee that works for me from San Angelo TX. I understand the Hispanics BETTER than I can understand his accent! Pittsburgh is different but east Texas is unintelligible.

Yep, when I see creek I read it as crick but I also spell it crick.

I grew up hearing crick for creek. The valley between two hills called a saddle. I always thought saddle and holler were the same thing if you were not talking about tack? A dry sandy, gravely, dry crick bed was an arroya but spelled arroyo. the word corral pronounce core el and around here its called a pen. Always heard ponds called dirt tanks.

Halla is common here.
A saddle is a slight depression between two high points.
