I have a customer that has mole mounding right up through the snow. This has been going on for about two months now. I thought I would try and trap them. I have going to try a few GopherHawk traps. Maybe a couple of OOS. I know I will have to replace the snow. Any suggestions?

If the ground is not froze, they can be trapped. If the ground is froze, you will have to wait till spring. I like the oos myself.

There’s plenty of good traps that will allow you to catch moles as long as the ground isn’t frozen solid (which if there’s snow it likely isn’t as snow is an insulator). If you can get your traps set, just cover them back up with snow to help insulate from freezing hard. I prefer a good tunnel trap, putange, or Trapline in this instance. (Although as I get older I generally try not to trap in such conditions. In my younger days I was all about it lol )

Tony, I have never had much luck with Duffus traps. Like any other trap there is a learning curve.

The moles have pushed the sand up through the snow, I dug down through the snow to the ground and set the trap. Then covered up the trap with snow to keep the ground from freezing. Getting too old to do much in the winter.

Set three traps two days ago and got one mole today. It was 32 degrees when I set the trap. Dropped to 26 degrees the first night.
