Found this in an area I find arrowheads. Was pretty dirty and I saw the marks in it when I picked it up and just thought it was a hit from a plow but it would have had to been hit 3 times to do this. Not even sure what type of material it is. Very rough and I can put a mark in it easily enough with just my fingernail.

You either found the star of David or it could posably be an etching of a Thunder bird.
Looking closely at the upper left corner and it resembles a bird head.
I've seen bird etchings that resemble a 6 pointed star.

Possibly an arrow straightener. Used to sand down arrow shafts. Have some that look kind of like that.

I found a similar rock at a campsite. I was told by a guy smarter than me that it was a shaft abrader.

My guess would be an abrasion stone.

Isn't there some sort of mollusk that has that pattern on its shell? That doesn't look like granite. Looks like sandstone compressed over a million years.

Interesting. Definitely man made.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Out in the west especially along the Columbia there are a lot of grooved rocks that were weights for fish nets.

I agree it looks like a shaft shaver to me. No sand paper or files back in those days. Grooved sand stone was popular with the natives.

Sometimes they call something like that a net weight and the lines are how they tied them on but other times they say shaft this or that. I don't know. Just some thoughts and what I have seen.

Net weights here are grooved so that they look like an 8.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

That rock looks like and is made from the right material to be an arrow shaft abrader. If it was a bone sharpening abrader , for making and keeping bone knives sharp, the cuts would be deeper and thinner.

Old fish net weights were grooved around the circumference entirely. Anything less would be lost quickly.
