Who has hunted dove in Argentina? What are your recommendations for dates and lodges? What should I avoid?

I hunted this time last year weather was warm. The hunting was unreal first time I had been there. My wife went with me as a non-hunter. There were a couple other wives at the lodge. Food and accommodations were awesome. We flew into Cordoba and they picked us up about an hour drive to the lodge. Pace yourself I had an issue with that part. It will be solid doves coming when you get to the field and still solid dove when you leave. I killed 4400 in 4 days. Take shoulder pad. I will shoot pigeons a couple days next time to change it up. We hunted with JJCACERIA. Been going to do it for years and glad I did and will be going back.

What kind of doves are you hunting in Argentina? Must be super common to harvest that many.

They are all mourning dove. Yes it is common to shoot that many. I wasn't very good at pacing myself. You are only limited to how much your shoulder can take.

Not sure I could have shot a 12 that much,but I would have tried. I met some guys from Louisiana while I was there. They said they been going every year for 20 years, always with someone different until the last 5 they keep going back to JJCACERIA so maybe I picked a good one.I picked them just from YouTube videos he was a great guy. His daughter kinda runs the hunting operation.

Are you bringing your own gun or using theirs? Ballpark, what does the hunt cost?

Long eared dove…..or just eared dove. A very close cousin, but NOT the same.

What do they do with that many doves after you harvest them? Hopefully someone uses them for something other than sport.

I used their guns didn't want the hassle of bringing mine.I bought the hunt package for 2k came with 1500 shells. Paid 200 per day for the wife, plus $17 per box of ammo after the 1500 included. I shot a little over 6000 rounds of ammo. Some guys there only shot the included rounds but I didn't travel all the way to Argentina to save ammo.

My son went to a place in Uraguay. While the volume of doves isnt that high, only shooting a few hundred per day, they also shot ducks, pigeons, parakeets, and perdiz over pointing dogs. He said the perdiz were his favorites.

Total cost for most airfare from the U.S., four days hunting, tips, shells, lodging, everything will run around 5K. It's a great addition to a bucket list.

I don’t hate them enough…now a turkey trip like that and I wouldn’t hesitate, lol!
I’ve had some friends that went and said it was like nothing they’d ever seen with the amount of birds. They didn’t pace themselves and by day 3 couldn’t shoot anymore due to their shoulders being so sore. One guy switched from right hand shooting to left hand shooting, lol.
Dove down there are a nuisance and not game birds. They just figured out a way to help “control” the population and save some crops all while making money!
If you go, don’t forget a little extra cash for bird boys and your reloader.

A guy I knew several years ago, went every year. According to him, the gave the birds to the locals for food.
