We have chicken farmers in my area. They dump the chicken manure into fields. There are always dead chickens in the manure. Once while I was checking my trapline I came across a pile in a field. There had to be 40 eagles feasting on that pile.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Seen most up close and personal on my carcass pile up to 4 at one time. It still amazes me that when I was a kid there were almost no bald eagles at all. I didn't see one till the early 1990's out on the Octoraro Reservoir in PA.

Bald when talking about eagles and baldepate ducks, is a reference to the white heads only, i think it used to be "balde" for the eagles as well.

They are beautiful birds And the natural skills allow hem to do some awesome things For example lifting off the water with some of the fish they carry in the claws is an awesome feat of strength and agility l proof of the power they have in their bodies But they are like most human hunters Myself included They take what is easy and quick A dead fish gets back to the nest easier and the young hatchings don't give a hoot if it was dead oR alive when it was retuned for them to eat So eagles are scavengers first They just wear tuxedos and look good in them If they start eating livestock they are another predator that should be killed And due to their killing of small game birds and rabbits they are not viewed as regal birds among those that enjoy ducks birds and rabbits An i ADMIT THEY SEVRE A PURPOSE IN THE FOOD CHAIN So I i like them even with the negative aspects that are a part of the place in the food chain they hold

I trapped the south west edges of the Great Salt Lake here for several years on many bird clubs and ranches.

Always seen eagles on carcass cow's and deer along with just about everything else, more than once !!

Whom ever says they don't, have not much knowledge about them !!

In person, I've only seen bald eagles eating carrion by the roads. I've never seen one hunt or catch anything, except on TV. Some of the carrion I've seen bald eagles eat has been more than a week old.

They kill and scavenge here.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I've seen them catch fish from the river and the trout streams
I put my carcass pile in the field behind my mother's house so she can watch the Bald and Golden Eagles from her kitchen table

I've only seen eagles make their own kills maybe twice. They scavenge a LOT. I've seen them steal from gulls.

It's cool watching the bald eagles trying to steal fish from osprey. the eagles usually win the fish dinner. They're better fishers than the osprey, wouldn't have to steal if they didn't want to.

Eh...wot?

I shot my first groundhog of the year today on the way to my daughter's house
And on the way home these two Golden's had already found it and a pair of Balds were waiting in the trees nearby for their turn.

Just about every predator is a scavenger when things get tough or the opportunity for an easy meal presents itself

I bet most bald eagles NEVER kill their own food.

That eagle with the trout in his talons? Guaranteed that thing was dead or close to it on the surface.

Goldens on the other hand kill a lot of stuff. And some pretty big stuff too! They’re getting to be hard on lambs here.
Way to many of them.
