More important than almost anything else you do on the line, who you have for a partner on that line is of utmost importance. Do you get along? Do you share the skinning duties? Do you eat the same lunches? Do you appreciate the same dogs? Music? I've basically run with the same partner for 23 years. Wouldn't have it any other way. Is your partner ready to go at 0400, and get home well after dark? My partner...

My partner is a marten-trapping fool.

She gets lots of red fox, including crosses.

She loves trapping beaver, and gets some nice ones.

The Dusty dog was by far the best partner I ever had. Like all the others I had, he wasn't much help skinning. He was always ready to go and never had to be back to watch TV.

This here is Loki, my partner for the past 4 1/2 years. Always ready to go but never has a problem relaxing after a busy day. Not very helpful in the fur shed but let's me know when I get company.

Here’s my main partner….due to his employment, he’s gotta limit his social media stuff as much as possible.

Larry was not a trapping partner in the normal way you think of trapping partners Due to a lost life time friend ship and at the same time a leg removed due to health issues he was made to give up trapping while in his early70's I coaxed him to join me and he did but it was not with much enthusiasm Over a 3 or 4 year span he average goig with me 3 or 4 time a season At the time I got certified to use CR'S in my state at the time And Larry was as any old timer can be l not sold on the concept His first observation was I don't see how you think those sets will catch fox It took me a couple of weeks to get my location on target but I began to improve my catch And the very first season I doubled my season total ever on fox from 13 to 26 Larry got a lot more in to seeing the results And the next year he went along alot more And his excitement whenever he spotted a catch was easy to hear On the 3 rd year of me using CR'S i/WE where getting 2 to 4 fox a day on a fair number of days And we had become trapping partners He frequently called out we got one over there if he spotted one in our sets On one of those trips over the line he got very serious and stated that he had been suicidal at times when he first was going along And how thankful he was to me to invite him along Larry is no longer here Having lost his battle with diabetics about 5 years ago I invited him to ride with me at the request of a mutual friend Honestly I knew Larry but was not someone that I knew well I thought I could use the company some days And Larry was an expert fox trapper and he would teach me some thing And yes he taught a valuable lesson in how-to do the right thing because it is the right thing And I certainly learned a little about life as Larry and I rode the field roads checking traps and CR'S Like you state Gulo Your partner is of the utmost importance
