13 years ago I got a little stuck on the ATV running some snares. I have often said I snare open country, look at cover, I had to go back out the way I went in, so I dug out behind me which was a lot further then forward. But you make it further down hill then up. I walked the rest of the line. Where would you hang a snare?

Probably in between the hills, trying to snag something walking the "valley" between them. Otherwise you could snare your own trail, since critters will preffer a broken train over an unbroken one. Cause if there's already tracks in the area I could snare that as well.

So any chance I'd get something or am I way off base?

I always put out bait stations and set where there was a little grass showing and a coyote trail going to the bait. A trail is any track that you can see a reason for them to travel there. The snow here is often crusty enough to hold a coyote up so they don't often follow ATV tracks unless it is going through some cover. That was a good dig.
