That time of the year for a new pair of boots came up. Gotta have good tread and no exposed steel toe for my company. 80% of people out here go with the slip on "cowboy style" . Need to be able to kick them in and off in a few seconds.Wear a odd size and usually go with Justin's.. break in easy , comfortable, (they actually usually have a 6EE in stock )get about 4 months out of a pair till the barges eat up them up. Well this time home was either drive 2hr to get another pair of the usual for 180 or 30min to town to get a pair of Ariats for $200.... Said it would be about the same with gas. That and everyone talks about high quality they are compared to Justins..said lemme stop being so cheap and get something slightly nicer.... Well day three of wearing these got a tear from the sole and the leather tired and gotta say for how bad these been to break in I was having some high hopes for em

I did the same, broke down and bought me expensive boots.

I bought Danners, A hunting style boot. They held up this winter good, hope they last me several more.

I sometimes have your trouble getting my size, but on all he other and of the scale, lol.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

What did you cut it on?

I think I got the same boots. I wouldn’t want to tie in a mile of powerline with them, but they’re not bad for climbing the odd pole or two a day, semi water proof is nice. I actually wore them in Vegas for two days before I switched to Sketchers, was surprised how they were with all the walking.
So far I’m happy, mink oil em up and I can wear them to weddings…..and funerals.

Back when I needed good boots I always had great luck out of the Wolverine Durashocks

Tried some brand once that was supposed to be the best in the universe for working on your feet on concrete.
Made it through one night, feet felt like they had had the bottoms whipped with a broom handle.
Took them right back and took several days for my feet to recover

I just bought another pair of Justin steel toes a couple weeks ago. This is my third pair. They usually last me close to a year but they’re in pretty rough shape by then. I buy them cause like Wolfdog said, they break in quick and they’re affordable. It’s kind of funny, I will spend money without thinking twice on things I want not need, but when it comes to replacing clothes or boots that I need, I hold off til I can’t any longer. This last pair I replaced my wife asked me, “do you have holes in your boots cause your socks are looking like you run around barefoot”.

Sorry you don't love them I am a big Ariat fan. For the work are doing I'd say Ariat or Red Wings should work well.

They were the only cowboy style boot I found I could wear comfortably. lasted me about 2 years. Had to get brown boots for my brother in laws wedding. Boots lasted longer than the marriage.

At 68 I look for lightweight footwear. Anything heavy is out.

It looks like a safety hazard to me. I would complain to company that made them. Tell them you are at work on a boat and can't get to shore to get another pair. Tell them you are afraid you could step into something toxic and lose a foot or worse yet get bit by a cottonmouth and die. Tell them you need a new pair asap. Maybe they could send the coast guard to fix you up with a new pair. You gotta always think out of the box in these kind of situations.

So you’re saying the just wrapping duck tape around them won’t work, man those safety rules are lousy. grin
