Migration is just starting to trickle in, took the opportunity to try getting a few Mallard pics as it’s a duck I haven’t chased much in the past.
Hopefully this is just the warmup to the big push that should be here in a few weeks.

4th pic is a hen Greater Scaup mixed in with a pair of Redheads. Not a duck we get much here.

Tray As always great pictures of beautiful ducks You have an eye for capturing waterfowl with the lense of a camera Your shots of Mallards and you saying you do not see many in your area reminded me that the only banded duck I ever killed was a huge drake that was banded in NJ and killed by me 2 years later in PA It was really cold that morning and it had snowed about 2 inches during the night And the ducks where everywhere in the morning And I expected the hunting to be great I saw a lot of ducks that day and also killed a hen mallard when I shot the banded drake to score a double I saw many that sunny morning with everything covered by a light snow from overnight But my good luck left me feeling very content with the pair I had And not all that driven to kill more for that day Thanks for showing your pictures

Good photos, reminds me of Johnathon. A lot of his photos are in the archives.

Glade I can bring back some sweet memories…that’s what I enjoy.

I have tons of mallards, it’s the Greater Scaup that are uncommon, or at least difficult to positively ID when mixed in with Lessers. Getting the diver decoys out now to go target them.

Nice pictures as always. I have not seen any waterfowl other then Canadas here yet. I ran to Aberdeen yesterday and came back today. I have more snow here then anywhere I went through. SD was bare on 281.

We have not had hardly any snow around Aberdeen this winter, it’s getting scary dry.

Waterfowl always amaze me. They can fly in close formation in all kinds of weather, and in the dark without computer control, and get to the same place year after year.
