I run Nexen MTX tires on all of my trucks the highway tires marked M/S are not mud/snow tires just mismarked highway tires to me. LOL I took the new truck straight over to the tire dealer so less than 300 miles on them it was picked up from another dealer. I asked if they would be interested in the take off tires a common practice years back not so popular today.
They offered me $75 a tire for Michelin 265-65-17s BW I said I should be able to get $100 on the local FB page so they went with me no deal. A guy out of NE picked them up today $100 each no games. The tire dealer said they go for $200 a tire you would think a few hundred dollars profit would have been appealing but I guess not.

It's all a percentage game nowadays. If their number isn't high enough it's a pass. That's they're bottom line

Recall when was just first driving. Seemed every gas station that did service work. Had a rack with used take offs at cut rate price. If it held air kept us high school kids beater cars on the road. Now tires like everything else have expiration date. Dealer probably doesn't want possibility liability hassel.

When I bought my jeep I drove it to a glass place and had them put a real mirror on the passenger side stead of a closer than they appear junker. Went to the auto parts store and bought a couple small spot mirrors to put on the bottom corners. Few days later I put some real tires on it. (3 years ago need new ones before winter comes back) Same thing. They were not interested in the ones I replaced at all. Sold them myself to an individual. Have not decided what to get this fall.

Mexican use tire shops in my area, 2 that I know of, and maybe more.
Buy, Sell, Mount, and Ballance, probably even fix a flat, No cash back.
Some English. Not bad to deal with if you need a spare in a hurry.

What I got out of the take offs won’t pay for 2 tires of the new set but will cover a spare at least.

I’ve been in the tire business for 34 years. Learn to read the date of manufacture on tires . Last four numbers of the DOT code are the week and year the tire was built. You don’t want “old new tires” I assume they dry rot over time. What's an old tire?

I had about 300 miles of driving on them when ar 75mph on the interstate the front passenger tire came apart like a semi blow out . They looked new but were 11 years old.

You don’t want “old new tires” I assume they dry rot over time. What's an old tire? Any thing over seven years old is suspect, ten is considered the end of a tires life.
