Body parts can be replaced as long as the frame is solid one thing to consider is buying any older truck outright today that’s repairable is worth a lot is the way I look at it. Not a Chevy guy myself can’t do much on price I sunk over 5K in my old D50 and drove it for many years I saved a lot on interest that way.

He wants 5K I know him very well. He has a new engine and new inside good tires all most new, front end is all new from transfer case out. I was thinking 5K might be a little high but over time the price of it would go up I would think. Boy, used vehicles here are going for a lot of benjamin's these days.

They are real high here in ND too. You should look at a 1 ton four door. Even with 200,000 miles and 10 years old they are $30,000

Normally I look at the odometer to help me kinda gauge the value. New engine is great, but if say the transmission goes within 10k miles you might belooking at another 5k of maintenence. Not that odometer is the end all, some vehicles barely make it to 100k while many pass the 200k or 300k mark.
Edit: Alaska prices are wild so if it's less that 200k miles than 5k would be a complete steal.

Check out all Body mounts...rocker panel & Cab corners.
Does the driver door close ok ?? Or does it drop..when opening
Check out rear leaf spring shackles for rot . And of course check the frame.
