Sold some beaver and otter today to Groenewold. Green and put up beaver paid the same. Averaged 13.40 on beavers all XL and up. Otters averaged 13.50 green.

Ouch on both! Apparently Groenewold has backed down on beaver prices he was paying at the beginning of the season? I assume that NC has a fairy decent beaver and otter.

Yes we do have good quality of both. I wasnt shocked with prices honestly. I did expect better on otter, and was disappointed with there being no difference between put up vs green frozen. Castor im saving for a friend who makes lure.

I didn’t stick around to ask prices, but there were a lot of folks selling put up coon, fox, and coyotes. I am sure that didnt go well.

Carolina, the last 4 otters I sold at the OTC auction (March 1st) brought $72 each.

Totally submerged 330, anchored with cable. Cable pulled tight, guide sticks scattered. Big hole in chest with foreleg stripped to the bone, another hole ripped off the side of skull, and tail chewed. Otter? Still a little skim ice, so don't figure a big snapper is that active yet.

The way the tail was chewed would make me believe it wasn't otter. I would suspect turtle.

This otter tied for my biggest ever. 31 lbs. The belly side is silvery but the back is dark brown, almost black.

CF, those prices don't leave me much to be excited about. Luckily I have an avenue for my otter but I was hoping to offload the beaver to the rat truck this Saturday. Might have to make other plans

Big difference in last March's GFW buying route into the South.

The universal law that you must screw up your best pelt of the year hit me. Made a knife slit on the tail while I was filleting it out on the 31 lb otter.

Nice clear otter too. It stretched 8" X 45"

BP, you flesh the tails with your beaver knife? For a clean skinner like you that is probably easy work.

I prefer the fleshing knife but I guess that's just how I learned

Yeah, I just always did it that way. Don't own a fleshing knife.

The empty snapped off trap near this one had the safety’s left on!…lol. We were chatting with the property owner while setting. I even told him that I used to be notorious for forgetting my Savague safety or the arm safety’s on…..crap sakes!
Back straps legs coming off tomorrow for sure!

A couple from my last two sets I had out. They sure were dark this year in the area I trapped.
If a portion of these don’t grade dk/xdk I’ll be shocked and disappointed.
