Very nice find. Did that picture accompany the article?

No, but that picture had to taken sometime near when that article came out.

A photo that symbolizes Trapping History. Legends captured in one picture. Who knew then what good those two would do for the preservation of trapping. That picture should be enlarged, preserved and framed, then hung where trappers who drink from the well can thank two of the men who helped dig it as deep as it is today. We give thanks to your Dad and thanks to you Paul. How proud he should be of how he is remembered and the good you continue to do.

Thank you for posting that Paul. What a thrill to have the opportunity to read and enjoy his works from so long ago.
There have been a lot of great outdoor writers but none like your Dad who not only made you feel like you were there, he made to feel his thoughts
About why the animal did what it did and you realize you are thinking about why the set worked. Only a great teacher can draw you in like that in a story.

Excellent in all respects.

Your father's last paragraph in the story explains why trapping continues to rule above all my other outdoor pursuits: That's what I like about trapping. You can never tell when the unexpected thrill will await you.

Wicked! I just started reading his open water beaver/otter book. Excellent book so far!
In the beginning he mentioned plans to write an under ice one, did he ever get it finished?
