Guys I have somewhere between 1500 and 2000 traps, I am no longer able to run longer lines. So my question is how to sell them i am thinking 6.00 apiece , they are anything from muskrat traps to beaver traps. This would include drowning rods , stretchers ,tumbler, stakes ,and more pay for traps get everything else threw in . or send them to auction and pay 30 percent commission? thanks guys

$6.00 a piece is not going to work. Folks will buy the ones worth more and leave you with the ones that are worth less.

The Wisconsin Trappers Convention is the weekend after Labor in Antigo, Wisconsin. Take them there, have some one help you price them appropriately and they will go away at a fair price for both parties.

30%?!? Find another auction house.
If you got lots of time you could part them out slowly over 20 years but probably make more off them.

How’ much time do you have to sell? 30 percent is a lot! Try a little here, Trap Shed. Also your state convention.

Try selling them in small batches. Price them accordingly to the current market. Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are great options. Also let folks at your states Trappers Association about the traps you want to sell, I’m sure there’s plenty of people who would buy them.

Then slap a price on them. But you have to consider most people won’t want to buy that many traps all at once. There are some first time trappers that are always looking for small batches of traps. Know the public’s demand before you try selling.

All at once is going to be a hard sell. Will almost have to be a used trap dealer. And since he/she will be buying to resell, expect to get less money. At least they will all be gone!!

Not many trappers will want to take on that many traps, especially since they are mixed sizes.

If you don't want to piece your traps out, find someone else who will, but don't expect them to pay much for them.

Package them into groups and sell per group.

I helped a trapper that was down sizing and he a lot of traps. When everyone says break them down into smaller bunches that will work better. I sold a bunch of his traps at our state convention. You can put them on a auction but that is what they will do also.
