It’s Prime Time for the grouse on the prairie. Breeding season is in full swing and the birds are dancing. It’s amazing that in native prairie where these birds are dancing the leks have probably been in the same exact location for hundreds of years. A lot of the Native American dances in this region closely follow the grouse dances.
Hope you enjoy.

They stomp 20 times a second! How is that possible!
I think they just featured them on The Americas a couple weeks ago and I learned that

Thanks for pointing that out, I will try to remember to get pics of the difference in barring next time I’m out.

Sunrise on an active Lek is an assume experience as the booming begins before one can often see and the sound travels across the grass and then the dancing begins. Definitely a sight to witness.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

Chickens are so much louder, I can usually hear them 1/2 mile away on a calm morning.
Hopefully will get time to photograph some here in the next couple of weeks.
