Looking to go in 2026. Any recommendations of a guide service. I hate just randomly picking.

I feel like Maine would be the best experience, but no not really. Just good for a quality hunt and guide. Heck I’d even be interested in trading for some salmon charters on Lake Michigan on my charter boat if interested.

In 2019, I went with Bold Coast Outfitters out of Maine. During that hunt, Bold Coast had teamed up with Marsh River Outfitters and we hunted with guides from both. It looks like Bold Coast has been sold since our hunt, but I would not hesitate go book a hunt with Marsh River.

Marsh River Outfitters also offers trapline packages!

You'll wanna call Captain Troy who runs Traditions Guide Service out of Southern Maine.

He comes highly recommended and is a very experienced captain that will put you on the Eiders and other sea ducks.

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Thank you the suggestions. I have only been on a couple guided trips and they always seem to be a disappointment. Hoping this time could be different.

Do you save the down from the eider ducks you hunt?

Back in the seventies, I watched a show, probably Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom or Wide World of Animals, where people netted eider ducks and plucked the down from their breasts and then let them go. People also.took down from their nests. The best down was plucked straight from the ducks into burlap sacks.
