Stop it. There is no room for that type of common sense thinking on here.

So much has changed about cholesterol and what is "acceptable". ACTUAL information about cholesterol and how 85% is produced by your own liver is out there but the for-profit medical industry chooses to ignore it. Wanna know why?

Statins are the highest profit margin drug out there. Acceptable levels of cholesterol in the 60s-70s was 250-260. Now it's 180. Wonder why?

Cholesterol is REQUIRED by your body for multiple functions. It's why your own body produces so much of it.

So why, if cholesterol is high and liver function is normal, do doctors prescribe statins? Easy!!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I don't trust anything about the health care system now. They did it to themselves by being beholden to government, insurance and pharmaceutical funding. It has next to nothing to do with "health care" anymore. I do my own research and take care of myself through activity and diet. Take care of yourselves naturally.

People amaze me at how many drugs they are willing to take when what is really needed is to put the tennis shoes on and put the fork down.

I feel like I'm replying to a 6th grader. Almost nothing in your post is true.
Doctors make exactly 0 dollars on statins. Statins are sold by pharmacists, who make money on them. And most statins are generic, and can be purchased for a few dollars per month. They of course are NOT the highest profit drugs out there and in fact have a very low profit margin. And 75% of your cholesterol is not made by the liver- almost 100% is. The "medical industry chooses to ignore it" is also a false statement. And your cholesterol numbers are way off. An acceptable LDL cholesterol for most people is < 100, lower if you are diabetic or have heart disease. The reason why numbers change is because more information and research becomes available and the acceptable range have to be adjusted. Additionally, statins reduce inflammation in the lining of arteries, which in itself is a risk factor for heart attack and stroke.

The only statement in your post that is accurate is that people need to put down the fork and put on tennis shoes. Please research from some place that is reliable and not some youtube crackpot, because frankly sir, you are embarrassing yourself and misleading the slow-minded.

You know what a kick back is? Legal or illegal, they happen. There's a reason drug reps are in and out of doctor offices every day. Just harder for them to bribe docs.

We need a better health care system, but I don't know of any, probably because there isn't one in existence yet.

Something with a base line of socialized medicine for all and better care for those willing to pay, may work better. Limiting liability payments would lower costs tremendously, but is not always appropriate either.

Anyone have any better ideas for a US healthcare system?

Going back to small practices would be the biggest impact on healthcare pricing.

The hospital I worked for has BUOLDINGS of support staff that is mainly composed of paper pushers. It also bought up a lot of independent practices.

If you want to read a horror book. Grab a ICDN any version of the medical coding books.
