That'll really be sharp if'n ya can get it polished up, I'd of brung it home too and probably dropped in my 12 lb tumbler to clean and polish, as looks like all the rough edges are off so should be pretty quick turn around

A geology teacher dream piece of banded sedimentary stone showing probably 100s of thousands of years of varied accumulated sediment deposit that has then been compacted into hard rock. From ancient lake bed or river plain that has broken and been worn by glacial action(at least by water). Doesn't look fine enough banding to be mineral build up that makes agate or geode. Would also make very interesting wind chime if sliced across the layers into segments(but that would be a lot of sawing depending on how hard it is.
I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

There is a guy at a flea market we set up at that buys cheap fossils & stone furnace glass to use in his aquariums. He & others like him would probably love that too

Your rock is a perfect example of the looked for material if its hard stone and not soft stone like sandstone.

![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/04/full-11385-254116-img_3046.jpeg) These were all found on more of a Plateau far from the bottom. WOW! Beautiful!!! That is interesting where you found them far from any water source. Thanks for sharing your finds.

Native Americans picked up interesting and beautiful rocks too. There is almost always a higher concentration of neat rocks at ancient camp sites then in the surrounding country side.
Keith Yes that is true.
