It could be. In retirement you may be spending your earnings and some of your principle. No earnings, all principle. I believe Bryce has mentioned this.

Would you call 37 trillion in debt and a 70% consumer nation a failure?

I do

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Then we have to start producing, that's what this whole thing revolves around!

Currently,,,,Depending on the market (Dow/s&p) we haven’t lost a year,,,,,,yet

If a person HAS lost 5 years,,,,,,there’s serious issues

And probably needs to look at something else

You can TRY to change the subject like you are, it only shows me that you know you're wrong.

Japan's not a consuming nation. Japan has twice the national debt as percent gdp as the U.S. What I'm trying to explain is trade deficits are not necessarily the cause budget deficits. Solving one does not solve the other.

It is actually funny that so many people think the trade deficit you have with certain countries is playing this big role in the national debt. That debt is due to taxation and government spending decided on by congress.

The fact that the average family in Vietnam is poor and buys like 12 billion in goods from you while you guys like to buy stuff and import 130 billion from them isn’t what has driven up the national debt. Heck we, along with Australia for example have a trade surplus but a national debt.

Edit: I see that in February we dipped to a deficit. However, it was a a surplus for many months with a national debt.

Back to this? One of many companies that are now either looking at manufacturing here or lowering their tariffs on us.

Nah, that doesn't support that his idea isnt going to work.

Maybe someday in the future congress will require all presidential candidates to be screened for anosognosia.
