Just talked to our buyer. He's came down 2 a pound in the last 2 weeks.
Told us not to hold em. If we didn't sell to him to sell somewhere.
He gave me 10 to 1 odds there gonna go to 7 or 8 pounds across th board for sure when season opens next year.

He said the average at fur harvesters wasn't a true average cause a guy from Italy was paying 50 + on shearable beaver ..the guy bought over 3000 of them at that price so it artificially brought the averages up.
Since they aren't broken down Into averages based on the grade,he said that the beaver market looks better than it was.

He was in attendance at the auction and watched it firsthand.

He said there's trouble getting them.out of the country now too because the receiving countries are balking at the tariffs they're now having to pay.

I just thought I'd let yall know.

Believe it or not..sell or dont..but don't be surprised if ya don't heed the warning and get skinned.

I also called another buyer, who didn't know I talked to anyone else he told me basically the same thing.

These 2 guys handle 100000 plus beaver each a year

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

It takes 2 buyers at an auction to determine the price not one

You tell them to dump their beaver every year, lol.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

How can you have a true average with only 61% sold? They need to post the "sold catalog". Little slow this year. Maybe there is a reason?

So the beaver are selling for what they're worth? This sounds eerily familiar to a thread many moons ago......lol.

So the countries that these international buyers ship to have placed a tariff on Canadian or US fur?
Getting it into the US from Canada hasn't changed in years at our end, unless the US nails you with one of your countries new import tariffs. I'm going out on a limb here and going to guess that most American buyers at the auction that intended to ship internationally know (or should know) the easy way around this, if there is a US tariff thing. It's not rocket science.

Looks like castor leaving the US is a tariff issue for shippers, raw fur being pretty minimal. Pretty interesting if anyone cares to do a bit of research. Your gov website is surprisingly fairly easy to navigate.

That's because we only go to school through the 6th grade.

When they are paying eight dollars average green on northern Minnesota beaver I assumed the market was great. grin [Linked Image]
Today’s beaver might cover the gas.

It should come out right after the last receiving date for the next sale. You wouldn't want bad numbers influencing someone shipping.

Speak for yourself. You're throwing everyone under the bus now?
It wasn't a shot to anyone, just a tip to check it out, it's easy to navigate.

Only 50% of my beaver sold. So there will be just as many the 2nd sale I would think.

Leave it to a furbuyer to think 50 dollar shearing beaver is high priced.

You’re right about that. But that’s what we’ve been conditioned to think. For that quality of beaver, $50 is chump change.

On a bright note, gas was $2.59/gal this morning. Unfortunately, the gas most of used for this season's haul of beaver was a sh*****, well more.
