According to Mayo Clinic surgery is a last resort for back pain. Try many other remedies first. My brother had back surgery and wished afterwards he never had it.

My wife worked for and retired from Mayo. They’ve told her surgery is the last option. Right now she’s following all their recommendations which include exercise, acupuncture, massage, chiropractor, TENS stimulation and periodic corticosteroid injections. The pain level without all of this is 7 of 10. With everything other than corticosteroid injections is about 5 of 10. The injections bring it down to 2-3 out of 10. Mayo says when the injections stop working, they’ll do surgery.

I'm lucky in that I can drop 40 bucks on a chiropractor ever few months and he keeps my back pain down enough to sleep at night.

Back surgery should always be the last option. That being said my lower back surgery was the best thing that ever happened to me 9 years ago.Good luck with everything.

Back pain sucks, therapy has helped me. Trying to work it around my schedule. Management made sure they said “oh therapy didn’t help me at all” Because they don’t want me missing any work

My wife fired the last one, the last 2 kids at home had that doctor since they were little. All the doctor wanted to do was spend the entire appointment belittling you for not falling instep and taking every Covid and influenza vaccine ever created. We told her where she could shove that needle and now have a new doctor who asks the question and then moves on with no comments.

Half of all Doctors graduated in the bottom of their class. Never thought of it this way. Good point

first back surgery i had did not work. 2nd brought me back from contemplating suicide Ouch! I don’t know what is wrong yet but this is different from the muscle injury I had 8 years ago. Just turning from side to side while I’m trying to sleep is excruciating and getting up out of bed is a chore. A brisk step down off a curb about made me pass out
