When we still used 24D on the farm we didn't have many at all. Fast forward many years and they are everywhere. Never really targeted them with the spray but that is my observation

Well back in the day we used to get a $1 dock on a $3 bushel of wheat. That much I know, but the tale was they would float the garlic and/or onions out and sell them to Italy or some where for $60 a bushel. The reason for the big dockage was paying for drying the wheat and onions. That was the story to justify the big doc anyway. My wife eats them in the spring.

We eat them all the time. The bulbs are very strong. We usually just snip the greens up like chives

Wild onions play out pretty quick, why spray em? We have them spring till fall around here. Leeks/ramps on the other hand "play out quickly"

Onions have a waxy leaf and don't absorb chemicals well. 2,4-d will kill them and won't hurt the grass. Just want them dead and roundup works. But mix either one with dish soap, shampoo, and mow them first or stomp them over too to create a wound to absorb the spray. There will be small onions left in the soil that will survive though. Yep ^ this.
