Never trapped coyotes in April before, but got one or two showing up on a trail camera 80 yards from the house.

Seems to be showing up every other day.

And here’s the dirt hole set. Trap of choice is a Duke #3 soft catch. Canine force lure. Set right in front of the cell cam.

Honestly I’m pretty dang excited about this as I didn’t trap this winter.

I’ll post any updates as they come!

I too thought that first pic looks like a red fox.

Too many guide sticks at that set IMO. Better to be a bit more subtle, but if it works then it works.

Reds ears have a black backside, Doubt that's what it is.

Personally, I’ve found spring and summer coyotes to be a lot harder to catch than fall and winter yotes.

I’ve always used a lot of guiding sticks at my sets. Seems to work for me. I know everyone’s got their own ways.

Pretty much every dirt hole I make looks exactly like this one.

Had a pic of a rabbit hop by last night. I’ll let the trap soak until I catch one!

Good luck! There’s no shortage around us. I got one in back a couple summers ago, they were coming right into the yard. Used a #3 soft catch and an old bear skull for appeal on my quad trail. I just kept a close eye on Morty when we went outside.

Yup, there’s plenty of them around here. Figure I’ll take one or two out before there’s another 5 pups running around.

I agree with Newhouse114, spring summer dogs can test your patience. Winter makes them look easy.
