I've never understood the reasoning behind the safetys on both Winchester and Marlin lever actions,when Henry comes along produces them without.

I always thought dry firing was bad for guns at least that's what I've been told.

Rimfires is bad as the firing pin will hit the edge of the chamber without a cartridge in the chamber.
Centerfires not so much as they would hit empty space. Technically there may be a minute amount of extra force without a primer to absorb the impact but it's miniscule. If it's a concern snap caps will suffice.

Dry fire practice is highly encouraged in the shooting sports.
