Well, as my dad would’ve said: “Family pink and call me Rosey!” FHA just sent me a reimbursement check for shipping some fur to Wisconsin. Im $57 richer today! I called Jenni to find out what the deal was and she says “ hey, ya shipped some western cats so we always reimburse shipping for the good stuff”.

Where’s BOCO to say I told ya!

Hope she don’t get fired when they figure out western Oregon cats are not really the high dollar westerns! Lol

All of my coastal cats always graded “western” at FHA. Usually as a semi heavy. The tendency towards casty bellies is what hurts.

Interesting, it looks there are no FHA pick-up routes or agents in Oregon. So you guys have to ship on your own I guess.

Eh...wot?

Doesn't FHA charge shipping when the pick-up agent hauls your fur?

Greg always refunded my shipping charges when I was sending cats there.

I wonder if they would be willing to reimburse my shipping costs for the marten I sent!!!??? Shipping is expensive in Alaska. I sent in enough marten to bump their June sale offering up a couple percent, so I would think that might qualify me for a shipping refund too!! shocked Wouldn't a big shipment of marten qualify as "the good stuff"?? laugh laugh

I wonder if they will post the "SOLD" catalog before the next auction? That would give the sellers a chance to see what things brought per section and grade. AND, more importantly, allow buyers to adjust their attitude's and purchasing intent, if indeed the market is rising.

Did you ship to the Wisconsin depot? If so call Jeni. She was telling me that they can either reimburse 100% or in some cases a percentage. She had somebody spend $500 on shipping 18 cats so they only reimbursed about 20% of that since the way they packed them in a wood crate was deemed excessive.

It has been a while since the last sale, for sure....... yet no sold catalog has been posted.....
It seems like it is usually up within a couple weeks?

I wonder if it matters what depot you ship to? Or maybe it is only a reimbursement offered for Western bobcats? I would hope they would consider refunding my shipping costs no matter what depot I pay to ship them to, if they are reimbursing other shippers incurred costs!!!??? I have a very high value of fur consigned there currently, for the June sale.....Not a good look to have some depots covering shipping costs while making other trappers eat their freight bill !!!?? Man BP, now you got me all fired up with discontent and the auction hasn't even happened yet!!! laugh laugh laugh

I'll bet you can whine your way into getting those shipping costs at least partially reimbursed. When I spoke to Jeni yesterday I asked if that meant I could in the future get reimbursed for beaver to which she replied if they were the real good high dollar ones "yes". So says I, who decides that? Says Jeni...."Me".

And btw, my bag of 6 bobcats included two hatter beaver. I was reimbursed 100% on shipping.

Trapped4ever, it may be only the Cambridge depot does shipping reimbursements. I never saw any when I used the agents in Washington.

The shipping reimbursements might be to compensate for the lack of a receiving agent in Oregon.

The shipping cost charged by an agent is usually a flat fee, no matter the size of the shipment.it is very reasonable (imo). Since peeler does not have an agent in his area, he has to pay the actual shipping cost, which isn’t cheap. Oregon to Wisconsin - about 2000 miles.

Makes sense, IF you think about it.

When I do a FHA drop off at their truck, I think the fee is $15 or $20 . No matter how big your lot is.

Haven’t dropped to FHA since Fall 2023 but there was no fee.
