That would be easier to accept than never enjoying morels again!!

Maybe your butter was bad, and it wasn't the morels after all. Or, you fried them in your fox bait instead of butter like you thought. I'd try another batch or two just to make sure it's really the mushrooms that are trying to destroy your innards.

Maybe you got a couple false morels mixed in. I am with Yote30, I don't soak them in salt water just clean water and put drakes on them and fry in butter and a little olive oil. Naked mushrooms don't fry right. I found these yesterday and we ate them last night.

I don't know if there's a connection, but I was told about 40 some years ago that there is a connection between morel resistance and alcohol.
I've been allergic for 40 +. Most folks I know that have a resistance where drinking beer with morels. When they developed a resistance. Then again I think most probably do drink while consuming morels.
Just a thought.

I’ve seen where good mushrooms can get bad spores from bad mushrooms spread by the wind not a mushroom guy just something I read years ago.

I don’t yell at the ladies I just help them out.

News story years ago a couple hosted a mushroom feed they fed the cat some mushrooms then the cat was rolling around on the floor crying so they all went to the hospital and had their stomachs pumped. When the got back from the hospital the cat had given birth.

Can’t imagine a kitty willingly eating a mushroom!
That was crappy of them to leave her during her hour of need
