A few waterfowl pics as the spring migration winds down and the hens are starting to sit on nests.

Saw Teal in large swarms and a few shovelers mixed in around here last week while turkey hunting.

Great pictures Tray. I have spent a lot of hours around nesting ducks and sloughs during nesting season. I miss being out there and seeing them. When I trapped for Delta I was out there 123 days trapping. A good job for someone that always enjoyed ducks.

Tray,
What do nesting conditions look like in your neck of the woods?
A good hatch is always the hope!

We are fairly dry along with a big portion of ND and Southern Canada. It will most likely not be a banner year.

The sloughs are low in ND, but not dry. We need some rain to give the grass a kick. Quite a bit of ND got enough rain to make the grass take off. We had zero at the house. South of me 100 miles they got a at good rain a couple days ago. Right where I live there is 100+ pair of nesting ducks per square mile. With out grass duck do not nest.

Absolutely Grasslands are critical. Problem here with low water is we lose all the brood cover to avoid predators. Really need the small shallow sloughs with lots of vegetation.
