So, I have a Nash choker loop mole trap and some DK-1 gopher & mole traps. I've never had moles on my property I've never really have an opportunity to trap them. My neighbors have lots of moles and they want me to catch them. Anyone got any tips for a newbie mole trapper? Thanks!

I like The old Victor out of sight traps and the Trapline product traps best. They all have a learning curve. Once you figure it out your golden.

In all fair ness, It isn't enough trap for me to take serious.
Any mole trap you can set with one hand
is too weak to use consistently in clay soil.
IMO , Mole ReapIer traps do not have the spring strength to use in clay soil that we have here in the Midwest and Great Lakes Region.
They just aren't a strong trap and the jaws aren't long enough for the type of soil we have here in Ohio.
Loose soil or sand, perhaps.

Good to know, I was somewhat worried about the clay, too

LT GREY, in all fairness, Have you ever tried them? Actual Mole Reapers. They don’t have the same spring the ones on Amazon have. There are several other design differences from the ones on Amazon.

Yeah I have no luck with them. I’ve sold them in every state and have awesome feedback. Read the reviews. Watch how I set them and you’ll see you don’t need a ton of spring power.

Get on Molecatchers US on Facebook and ask about them. The best of the best mole trappers hang over there.

Yep, my friend has some of the junky ones that are probably from Amazon... They don't work at all. But your traps obviously work great, and the way you set them in the video makes sense.

I just thought that since they looked like kind of like the Amazon ones, they might not work too well in the clay/denser soil. But now I see that they're much much much better than those ones. I appreciate your help!

So I’m pretty sure he’s accusing me of freezing moles and putting them in traps for a picture. Too funny!!!

How about this one? Out in the field on a 5 acre property? Straight from the freezer LOL!!!. LT GREY, come follow me trapping for a day and I’ll send you home with enough moles to fill your freezer.

So have you ever tried a Mole Reaper? Why aren’t you answering the question?

Are you "one and done" when trapping moles? I understand you want a pic showing how effective your traps are, but why didn't you reset those?

This is from several yards and if I feel that I’ve caught the moles then I don’t reset. If I feel there might be more then I leave the other traps in the yard. I generally set 2-3 traps per mole that I think there might be.

It’s also faster for me to just leave the dead moles in the trap and reset a new trap if I’m going to reset on the same run. I take ALL moles with me because I don’t want a customers pet to find them and roll in them or bring them in their house. I don’t use a bucket to hold my traps and stakes. I carry a handful of stakes with traps clipped on them. I can easily carry 15+ traps and stakes in one hand for larger properties.

I take moles with me also, or if I'm in a rural setting, throw them far enough into the brush pets won't find them. If I find fresh sign in a yard that I already have set, I'll walk back to the truck and get more traps. But to walk around the yard, carrying more traps, while you're checking traps, to replace traps that already have a mole in them, then carry the trap and mole back to the truck instead of re-setting?

Take a one gallon bucket with you when checking, drop the mole in the bucket and re-set. I believe you that your traps work.

Carrying a bucket to put dead moles in or 3 or 4 traps is the same. Plus then I’ve got to have room for the bucket in my truck which is the already full to the max. Then if I see new runs i don’t have to walk back to my truck and get more traps.

This is 15 traps I pulled from a yard. No problem carrying them in one hand.
