Size 14 e here(maybe ee ) Used to wear 11 s . Seems like most boots are not high enough in the toes (tops of toes near or at the top of the toe area ) or wide enough . I would only get them for comfort as I have no employer .I drove 60 miles to town and nothing fits .Order from internet would probably need to send back numerous times .Ordered some Keens last week a was hacked by a Chinaman . My wife won't chew leather for mocassins . Sorry for all the whining

Due to arthritis, gout and possibly walking barefoot most often when I was a kid I too now wear size 14 work boots. I've gone to the steel toe versions as they seem to have more room in the front half of the boot, including the toe area. I can usually find something that works for me at Farm & Fleet or Fleet Farm, both here in Wisconsin. Works for me.

I found early on in my 45 year of steel work to buy steel toed boots at least a size large and at least one size wider than usually
wearing on regular shoes ! Some times if I like the feel of the boot I would buy it two sizes wider and use thicker socks, which did help a great deal.

I also looked for the old steel toe caps as well, they had to be wider and taller for those over size boots, I also stayed away from any type of synthetic toed shoe as they generally were to flat and to tight to wear

I also bought boots that did not lace all the way down close to the toe area as all they did was compress the leather in that are
and push down on my toes.

When I felt the boots were getting to loose which usually happened about a year and a half in, I just bought new ones

I took them all off on my taxes as needed for my work as well !

Smitty, you and I are in the same "boot" I men boat...lol It seems my feet and toes have EXPANDED as I got older. Used to be size 12 triple E or size 13 no problem.
Now I'm wesring a 14... as one foot feels tight in a 13 and the other one is comfortable in a 14???
I'll watch this post for more info....

I've found that a size 10.5 is a size 10.5. Think about it. If you were going to make a size 10.5 shoe the first thing you would grab is the 10.5 mold and build the shoe around it. The steel toe included. They don't shave material away to make the steel toe fit the mold or then it wouldn't fit your foot. I wore red wings for the longest time but they switched to China. They need broke in. The pair I've worn the last couple of years are Carolinas. They were comfortable right out of the box and made in the USA. My red wings laced up with cleats all the way up. The Carolinas have an eyelet at the top. That eyelet really slows you down putting your shoes on in the morning I kinda hate fooling with it and my feet get screaming hot in the Carolinas and I didn't have that problem with the red wings. The airwalk safety shoes on amazon are comfy and are a true to size low top skate board sneaker. Twisted X makes a comfy safety toe thats half way fashionable looking, they wear like house slippers. Let me throw some pics up and thats my review of safety shoes everyday for the last 25 years at the ol factory. Anyway I'm a 10.5 narrow with an arch and wore a 10.5 in all of those.

I'm a new fan of the complete flat sole too without a heel. Thats what the steel workers always wore and I tried it and I think its the way to go. Good luck.

Rereading your orig post... I really liked that red wing had the thing that measure your feet and it was a red wing measurer sizing your feet for red wing shoes. So a EE redwing measure is for sure a EE red wing boot size for example. Go that route and buy the more expensive shoe insert upgrade at the redwing store while you are there. The serious guys change those inserts every six months. Anyway if you want what fits that's the way I would go. The trick is realizing all those measurements may be different at another store with however they measure their shoes.

I remember thinking my first pair of red wings feeling like they may have been the first pair of shoes that ever actually fit me right at age at 25 yo 23 years ago. All of these I suggested fit real well though.

If you go red wings make sure you oil them up and wear them in the evenings around the house for a couple weeks before heading to work in them and when you head to work make sure your old shoes are in the car.

p.s. I have safety toe doc martins in 10.5 and I can't wear them they pinch my pinky toe but thats what I get for buying doc martin work boots. So anyway, those run small but I think it was more how they cut the material and the edge poking my pinky toe than the fit. It was like there was a knot right in the wrong spot.

Every manufacturer and even boot style has different shapes toe boxes. I were a Carolina because they are true to size and they have a wide toe box. The model I wear anyhow. Redwing makes a boot specific for a wide toe box too.

I have to wear safety toe boots at work. I have found the Red Wing King toe boots are the most comfortable to wear all day every day. They advertise the the boot has (44% more toe room)
