Who’s going to win the derby? Any chance for a triple crown this year. I don’t keep up with the races but this is the only time I enjoy gambling. Maybe $20 for the race. Might have a gambling problem. Hoping American promise wins.

I've always wondered how close Hunter S. Thompson's version of the Kentucky Derby is to the truth. grin

I'll always remember Steve Cauthen, 18 yr old triple crown winner that rode with no saddle and no whip.

schools were out around here yesterday for oaks day /derby weekend. It's another big deal for a lot of people like the super bowl I never even know when it is tell other talk about it. I only know becuese the boys phones would not stop with txt from girls the entire stinking day. I finallyasked in frustration are they not in school today? txt dung after ding to finally put the phone in the truck and leave it there when we were working cutting wood.

It's just another horse race I can't tell the diffrence between any of them. Still have the same odd spreads .

My wife and I often go to the bar and watch the race. We don't get TV so we can not watch it here. We forgot about it this year.

It would be interesting to know the percentage of people that bet on this race that have no clue about horse racing. There were two choices.Sovereignty and Journalism. You can see how it turned out.

Can we dare hope that this is a prophetic metaphor ?

Sovereignty over Journalism ???

Many bet on the name not the stats or skim the stats not knowing what they are even looking for some bet the long shots hoping for a big payout stats or not. This race could have had several interesting endings with the mess they ran in not knowing how many of the horses had never ran in muck before.

What was great for me, that I always look for every year, is that huge black Percheron draft appy cross pony horse. He's amazing. So big with his white blanket and huge spots , he can be seen easily at drone distance.

I also like seeing the gear that is used on the racers and poniers alike.
