Practically all news has a bias, but if you know their bias and can fact check them, you can read through the bias and by sorting the wheat from the chaff, come up with some grain.

While practically everyone has a bias and slants their reporting that way (some I honestly don't think are doing it intentionally, they would swear they are reporting impartially but their opinions/beliefs still slants their narrative) and there are people on both sides who use false "facts" and totally skew things by intentionally ignoring inconvenient facts that don't fit their narrative. I find the use of false "facts" more common on the left, however. Both sides are pretty good at ignoring inconvenient facts, but the right has a somewhat better recording of facing up to them and dealing with them when directly confronted with them.

Thanks for the added info rvsask.

Us folks down here don't get much information about anything that goes on in Canada. That's why I initiated the original post. I certainly believe that based on our 2025 election, podcasts made the difference for Trump and RFK.

Legacy media here has been identified by anyone not blind for reporting only the news that they get the biggest paycheck to report.

I don't know the underlying push by people in charge not wanting to use fossil fuels. Best way to build the economy for jobs overall, provide sustainable power (other than nuclear, and Canada won't do that). Maybe they should understand what caused the large grid shutdown in Spain a few days ago.

I might add, I hate windmills, they are all over Illinois, including many within 1/2 mile of where I deer hunt. Listening to windmills when in a tree stand isn't particularly enjoyable. Plus, looking at hundreds of them when driving ruins the landscape.

Have a good week.

I believe the biggest problem with secessionist ideas are the dependence of States and Provinces on Federal money and programs. Hard to cut that cord. When Albertans travel abroad, do they identify themselves as Albertans, or Canadians? I only claim to be an Alaskan.

A couple of issues are the Canadian pension plan and the RCMP

For Alberta to gain independence????

Alberta will need its own pension plan and police force,,,,,very doable, but will take time

Myself/personally, when travelling abroad, if people ask where I’m I from? Alberta.

These last few years with an actual nazi in the HOC. With Trudeau as PM. All the trans b.s.,,,

It’s actually been embarrassing travelling abroad as a Canadian

So honestly curious how you would deal with the native rights issue? If Alberta separates but the treaty holders do not want to, what happens?

1. They have already said they will not vote to leave.
2. Since the treaty is with the crown(Federal Government) and Alberta is leaving do all treaty's become void and the land revert back to native control? Only crown land is given back to natives? Natives are told to go pound sand?
3. The Alberta Government takes over the treaty obligations and expense there of?

There are a hundred different issues and almost all of them have no answer, yet!

Are you going to have a military or depend on other country's for defense?
Are you going to have a border service, can goods pass through Alberta East, West. If so is there a tariff/fee?
Can Alberta have free trade with the rest of Canada?
Pipeline agreements to get your oil to tidewater, would be void in some cases as they are government to government agreements?
What part if any do you get of the Canadian Pension Plan?
Farmers shipping product at tidewater will need to ship through a separate country before the buyer gets it? Do all shipments need to clear customs twice, be inspected twice? Will country's even buy from Alberta the first couple years with the uncertainty?
What part if any of the national debt do you assume?
What do you do if BC Blocks oil shipments on the trans mountain pipeline? Or increases the cost per barrel?
How many embassy's do you open, cost of a foreign affairs department.
Do any of the free trade agreements carry over, Do you need to renegotiate them all?

Almost every aspect of the government would change and become super large!
Even changing the signs on highways would cost millions as I'm sure you would want to get rid of the signs with crowns on them.
How many departments do you need to take over for the service Canada centers?
Are you going to have employment insurance?
How do you get oil company headquarters to stay in Calgary with the uncertainty of leaving? Are you going to carry on the federal government subsidies for them? What about AGCanada Subsidies, is Alberta going to take them over?

This was about a 20 minute thought exercise and the reason that Alberta will never vote to separate, will there be a vote, probably but it will be 80% saying no 20% saying yes to leave, at the most. Its a pipe dream!

The FNs will get a vote just like everyone else

The corrupt FN leadership benefits hugely from Ottawa while all the members live in poverty/3rd world conditions,,so of course the leadership is against it

Treaties would be honored

-Canada currently has no viable military,,,,a security force/milltary would be formed,,,it would take time

- everything would be negotiable as far as goods “passing thru” “tide water”,,,, there’s plenty of successful land locked countries,,,,,no shortage of craphole countries with tidewater

-Alberta should get a refund on national debt,,,,but again that will negotiated

Well over 60% of albertans voted to end equalization payments not long ago,,,

If Alberta did vote to separate?? It’s going to take along time for it to actually happen

Countries break up,,,,it happens

I'm pretty sure the U.S. will cover this, like they have been since 1945 for the rest of Canada.

Well, during my 2nd trip to Vegas, 3 guys called me out near a casino after seeing my tattoo. “Hey, we’re Canadian too!”
They were a few buds that grew up together but split up after school.
“Where abouts you from?” I ask.
Cowboy hat & boots that were well used……
“I’m from Red Deer”

Normal looking guy, gun tee shirt, baseball hat with a nice tight curve….
“I’m just north of Edmonton”

Bald, chubby little dork in a rainbow coloured shirt……
“I’m from Toronto”

I burst out laughing, then all three burst out laughing and the TO guy says “What are we laughing at?”
I says “Of course you’re from Toronto, you’re the odd ball in the group”……lol.

I watched that last night.

She seems to be pretty sharp on things based on earlier interviews I've watched from months ago.

Hope when dealing with Carney she doesn't make the same type of mistake that Joe Manchin did with Schumer, or Brandon being the unifier speech. Ya know, the leopard doesn't usually change its spots.

I wish the best for our Canadians members.

Question, is there anything in the Canadian constitution that would allow Alberta and Sask to "combine" so to speak and make the move together?

I don’t see why not? Maybe each doing it separately, but together……if that makes any sense.
Different news channels say different things about the percentage of population that wants to separate…….numbers are at the opposite end of the spectrum. 70% for separation, next poll says opposite.
We all know how polls can easily be manipulated.

I just saw a clip of Trump saying he's meeting with the PM Today.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.
