Hoping the roads are open and the roads are drivable but the shaded road spots can be covered in deep snow long after most of the snows been gone in other places. Did not see a ton of snow on the road cams this winter not the waist deep stuff they get most years. If the roads are blocked or impassable I just head to the lower elevations should not be an issue this year but I’ll find out.

I’ve seen a lot of changes in the turkey behaviors in the last 10 years with slower dispersing of the flocks creating less interest in responding to calling not 100% sure why. My thoughts on TSS shot is it might create these issues with impatience shooters poking and hoping at birds. Head out tomorrow and tuck one in is the plan then get on it in the morning.

If I fill my SD tag I can head to WY for an over the counter tag, I know a couple areas that hold birds every year.

Good luck on your hunt. Here, dispersal seems to hinge on when the bugs really come out. With the warm up this week, and the local farmers spreading loads of manure, that should be any time now.

Our toms are still henned up pretty good.

Went to the health club this morning. There was a tom in the parking lot. Guess you never know where you find them sometimes.

I would say our dispersal is earlier now. Gobblers after the hens pretty strong the first of Mar. Hen dispersal around the end of Mar. Our season opened 21 Apr and the hens were setting by that time and gobs were in a roaming mode looking for hens. Hear one gobbling his head off meant nothing as to whether or not he would be in the same county tomorrow.

No bugs out here yet have not seen a hoppers yet ticks are few now but they will get here.

The hens here have been on the roost at night through the end of the last couple of seasons very late dispersion.

About every situation that a guy could run into we ran into last week large mixed groups, lone birds, gobbler pairs, gobbler pairs with hens, single gobbler with his hens no pattern to go by.

Just keeps it interesting we could of roaded birds but that not the hunt we are looking for even though it’s legal here.
