I bet there are some within the AK ranks. I know of a few on here from there. Mostly Cub drivers.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I prefer to stay on the ground (or water) if possible. The only thing I don’t like about flying: take off is optional, landing is mandatory. And aircraft are built and maintained by humans, who are inherently flawed. If my truck breaks down, I’d pull over, if my boat quits running I’ll run the kicker, or drop anchor and radio for help. If your airplane got built on a Friday afternoon while they were thinking about bailing out to the bar, you’re having a rough unplanned landing You'll beat the paramedics to the scene of the crash by at least 15 minutes.

Earned my private pilot license in Alaska in 1984. Flew all over in the 49th state. Moved to Wisconsin and attended college, got married and had children. Stopped flying at the college part and have not flown since. Hard to beat the adventures I had in Alaska, though. Close calls too.

Not a pilot, but spent 2014-2023 flying around pretty much all of northern half of southeast Alaska contracting for a regional air carrier. Mostly floatplanes, some wheeled. Many, many sketchy hours in cloud banks, freezing temps, snow squalls, and a couple cove landings waiting out weather. Almost all the villages were serviced were with saltwater/ocean landings. Many dozens of other small aircraft flights during construction projects. Never wanted to get a pilot's license, though. I knew that being a risk-taker by nature would almost certainly lead to my early demise.
Just doing what I want now.

Buddy flys but I help with the ground logistics mostly, he just took the plane in for its annual so I picked him up at the airport an hour away. Not afraid of flying it’s just a take it or leave it if I need to fly I go if I need to drive I’m still OK with that..
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

My Nephew just turned 19... He has his Pilot license...and is working on his commercial license.. He goes to flight school in Burlington VT. He did his solo 250 mile flight ..from Burlington to Nantucket. And just last weekend flew in NY city with an instructor...and got this pic ! Very proud of him ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/05/full-22754-257797-screenshot_20250513_201815.png)
