NE MN actually. I was up there all day yesterday helping my Niece evacuate even though the fire will never make it to her place. On Monday I was missing the old job pretty bad. A buddy of mine that was my counterpart on the State side called and brought me up to speed on all the nonsense going on and I decided I didn't miss it that bad after all. Still, 144 structures lost is a bad day and I don't miss that feeling one bit!
I have nothing clever to put here.

WOW!!! Yes I messed up NE MN. I always worry about firah and is very dry here; Even with the snow and some rain we got it still not enough as the time goes on. I understand the missing the job when you are wired for these times. I can relate totally, I miss those times trying your hardest to get people back in power when devastation hits. When the going gets tough the tough get going. I don't miss the politics at the work place can't just go get the job done like 40 years ago, it is all the BS now/politics at the work place.

I did throw all my gear in the truck before I headed up there along with some cases of water, saws, gas and oil. I never got to use any of it. From a structure triage stand point, her house is not able to be saved so I educated them both while I was there. I doubt it did any good but it made me feel better.
I have nothing clever to put here.

160 are you getting any rain yet? It may not put it out, but it won't make it burn more.

We had a cell pass through from 1500-1545 or so. My parents got 1.5 inches and I got the same. Less than 1 miles away my boat seat was dry and it never rained a drop. Typical thunder cells but it dropped a LOT of lightning. I am sure some of them were outside the band of precip but the next week should be mellow given the forecast.
I have nothing clever to put here.

No, I would guess Camp house will be 10 days or so before it is officially "contained" and Jenkins will be longer due to limited or poor access. That said, I would be shocked if either of them grew much in the next 3-5 days. The weather has FINALLY moderated to a level that boots on the ground can be effective again.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Shakey, I have seen my share of those pole/structures. I miss those days but glad there in the rearview mirror now.

MTA Vice President Bert Highland was interviewed on Channel 9 news last night. Sounds like him and his wife are in the thick of it.
It’s a lazy man who can’t find his wife a second job !

The line was still hot when I was there yesterday. System Control knew something was going on as the recloser was operating the odd time, but didn’t care at the moment, they were busy shutting down 2 generating stations on the east side of Manitoba. Last time a big fire rolled though here it was the 500kv steel line about 1/2 a mile away flashing over to the tower with all the soot everywhere. No real damage. We were going to line up a couple choppers to wash the glass off but a good rain took care of it.

Interesting work and can be some stressful day though. All be save and NO Short CUTs.
