I am looking
mostly at a corded model while batteries could be really handy I am around power most of the time I would be doing a lot of fish.

that and I have a love hate relationship with batteries
I love the freedom of cordless and hate that I have frequent battery issues with about everything it seems.

the Rapala 110v and also the Rapala 12v corded that has a 110 to 12v converter , that would let me run off the boat battery if I was away from power.

I've had the Rapala for a long time. No problems. Run it both 12v and 110.
Couple friends have the Bubba. Nice but expensive.

Never could get the hang of one

I have a WORKPRO battery operated knife. It does a good job - no complaints.

Tried once, didn't care for it. A sharp fillet knife can be very fast, I've watched pro's filleting flounders, 3 strokes per side faster than you can believe, you don't get that fast unless you go through a LOT of fish, lol... but I've heard of guys that love the electrics...can't say which ones.

Tried a lot of different brands.Fried a few of them with hard use.Long story short,,buy an American Angler.

Got a buddy who has a Bubba and loves it. It is a great tool but I prefer my old Rapala's. I keep them sharp and I only filet from 1 to 20 at a time. If your catching a lot I can see where a electric, especially cordless, would be beneficial.

I have an American Angler and a Rapala 110/12v.

It seems I always find myself going back to the AA.

Mister Twister corded for me. I've got a couple different sizes of blades. I fillet hundreds of fish a year of all types and sizes with it.









I use a standard 6" Rapala knife to cut out the ribs...

Have Rapala and a Mr Twister, both 110V. Like them both; no problems.

I'm with ADC. Mr Twister. corded. 7in blade. hundreds of panfish and dozens of walleye a year. if your spending over an hour cleaning fish, the heavier battery models fatigue my wrist/hand.

I had/have them all. But since Bubba came to the market the others never get touched. Hands down the finest battery knife out there. I have two of their models, one never leaves the boat/truck, the other is at home. My cousin is a guide on the river and it is all he and his cohorts all use.

I use the cheap $12 Black and Decker electric knife from Walmart in my fish shack on the river here. Mostly on catfish but do a few carp for bait and canning as well, no pan fish. I buy them 2-3 at a time and always have one on the shelf since there's usually two of us cutting at same time in the fish house. Some last years, some die half way through summer.

In Canada I normally just use a large regular Rapala. My buddy up there mostly uses Mr Twister electric and likes them.

I prefer the Black & Decker over the serrated style blades that tend to grab scales and pull the knife through the skin, leaving a patch of skin on your fillet if you aren't careful. Basically, it's easier to control the cheap Black & Decker.

Rapala here. I use it for everything. I still prefer to use a conventional filet knife for catfish and trimming off the red meat/bones

I have a Rapala and a Mister Twister corded model. Nothing wrong with them.

A few summers ago a friend turned me onto the Bubba cordless filet knife.
I used it and ordered one the next morning.

It comes in a hard case with 4 sets of blades and 2 batteries. The battery life is great with them, did over 300 Crappie before the first battery died. It gets wet every time I use it and haven't had any issues with it. This is the 3rd summer with it.

IMHO it's possibly the best $175 I've ever spent

I use a corded Rapala on anything more than a dozen fish, otherwise a std. 6 inch fillet knife works for me. Have had to buy replacement blades for electric knife every several years but they are cheap.

Works good for cutting corn from the cob.

For fish, I use a regular knife so I don't have to fiddle around cutting the Rib bones from the fillet.

This man is speaking straight facts. If there was a better electric knife than the Bubba, I would own it. There just simply is not. That said, I am not a fan of cordless knives. They don’t have the umph.

The American Angler used to be my standby, but was only getting about 2 seasons out of them before motor or gear issues.

I clean thousands of fish a year between crappie/catfish/suckers/panfish/bass. My oldest Bubba is 4-5 years old and still going strong.

bubba has a corded model , what are your thoughts on that

27 to 43 for the unit and one blade , and 15 for each additional blade
Rapala is 50 to 77 with 2 blades and 12/110v depending on who is selling it

American angler is a step up in cost and gooder
99 with just unit and one blade and135 with 5 blades

the BUbba is a step up in cost but falls as goodest
the bubba is 140 for the corded with 4 blades and carrying case
the LIthium ion Bubba is 170 with 4 blades and 2 batteries an ultimate in convenience and function.

does that about sum it up?
