If you filet a lot of fish each year, you won't regret buying the BUBBA.

Thanks , last year maybe 50-60 , but I am hoping to increase that as we only got out near the end of the season last year starting in September.

in the past I have done more but always conventional knife.

I threw mine away. Dont remember the brand. have not tried that again. A sharp knife works just fine.

I just have a regular fillet knife (several actually, but I tend to favor the buck one)

I have 3-4 different blade configurations for mine and honestly, there is very little to no difference in the way they work. I certainly don't think you need more than one set of blades. I fillet 50 crappies and a couple dozen bluegills a day 3-5 days a week for 2-3 months every summer, plus several dozen other fish, walleye, bass, northerns, catfish, etc.... My current knife is 4 or 5 years old, I have had a new back up on the shelf for a couple years, but haven't needed it yet. Hope I don't jinx myself now. lol

I agree with Jayme. For at least 15 years I used a regular kitchen grade electric knife and it worked fine.

Paired with an old ironing board with metal mesh one thr top, a hose and a couple 5 gal buckets I could go threw s mess of fish fast and set up anywhere with water pressure and a 110 outlet.

The shape of blades or brand of knife was way down my list of things to upgrade.

I use a standard 6" Rapala knife to cut out the ribs...

How you get the rib bones out ?

His wife cuts'em out hippie lol. That is one of the draw backs of a electric knife that I see.

Forget the corded model. The batteries last a long time.

I have a bubba. I still use my handy dandy old fashioned Wusthoff.

I ran a rapala this spring on a batch of food sizes walleyes on the Detroit River. I'd rather have a rapala after using that one

Kids got me a Bubba a few years ago for Christmas. I really like it on the boat or at the fish cleaning stations. Does the job on salmon and walleye. I do like my old Oester "turkey" electric knife that I confiscated from my mom about 30 years ago for doing crappie at home. I seem to have more finesse with it on smaller fish. Could be that I have used it for 30 years and am used to it.

I bought my last two Bubba corded for sub $100. One from Academy and one from pawn shop new and unused. The one from Academy was 2 years ago, the one from pawnshop was last year.

Gave one to my youngest son, the other new one is in the closet for when needed.

Typically my wife cuts them out with a 6” fillet knife so I can keep filleting, I can’t keep up with her, but if she’s not helping I just cut them out with the electric knife takes about a second or two very fast and easy.

Another vote for the bubba knife.
Battery life is incredible.
