My dad who is 97 and myself have different doctors that both use the wellness check from medicare like a once a year physical exam. Never been asked about guns in home. I did not mind having the health insurance nurse come to the house so I could get the gift card, more per hour than I make trapping or scrapping.

im sure the lady on phone was only following protocal.. and the first responders sheriff and ambulance came quick... she probably had the ambulance on the way before she asked the question.. it was her tone of voice and the tense situation that had me riled up...... i realize everywhere isnt s dakota..... we have guns hanging in the windows of most pickups... very little crime..... more for shooting varmints skunks badgers ect,, just a way of life ... coon hound broke her leash and tore down the alley to the cat lady and killed one of the 40 or so cats she called the sheriff he came in the yard shaking his finger saying we need to make this look good!! as she was surely watching.... i said slow day for faulk co sherriff to send his deputy on a dog kiled a cat mission when the rest of the country big cities are dealing with drugs and murder...

Old thread, but still relevant, especially with how common these wellness checkups have become through Medicare. A lot of people don't realize how much of it ties back to billing goals and compliance tracking. This articleThis article goes into some of the recent trends in Medicare audit activity - worth a read if you've ever wondered what's really behind those "free" checkups and gift card offers.

They had me do this annually. I finally told them I don't want this worthless waste of my time appointment any more. X 2, just a money grab. They asked me if I had suicidal thoughts etc., they were fishing for a firearms grab as well.

I post this on 04-04-24 and no one has called to set up my wellness or annual. Which is good as far as I am concerned. Every time I have been there to see my GP he is 30-45 minutes late and wants to make up time on me. It all seems like a waste of time going in. I have little faith in them fixing anything if you do have a problem.

A lot of old folks don't eat well or regularly. Suicide is/has been on the rise. Rugs can trip an old geezer and cause a serious injury.

The hospital called and said I had an appointment a few days ago. I go in and it is a wellness appointment. They ask if I can feed myself, if I am scared at home, if I can drive, If I have throw rugs, pets in the house a bunch of stuff that has little to nothing to do with my health. Took my blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs. They said Medicare want them to do the wellness checks. Is this something that just happens at this hospital? If you are on Medicare, do you go in for Wellness appointments? I am scheduled for my annual physicals the 9th. You would think they could have ask me then. It looks like they are just trying to get an added insurance payment to me. I do my wellness at Dr clinic, when I was in hospital for the bleeding last week they asked those questions

the number of people who can't cook or feed themselves is ridiculous.
throw rugs and pets are a major cause of senior falls , it's all fun and games till you break a hip , then you either get the surgery or die of pneumonia in 3 months
if you can't drive they probably find a way to offer you rides to the clinic
if you can't feed yourself they probably send you meals on wheels
I am 46 not 64 and they ask me half those questions
I told them feeding myself isn't the issue , I cook so well I made a cancer patient gain weight while on chemo , my problem is not eating too much.
feel safe , yup
yes it is all a way to get an additional payment out of Medicare without using Dr. time.
they just ask me these questions while I am in for other things. because my insurance isn't going to pay for it otherwise , and I don't get the rugs and pets question
If I did it would lead to pictures of Fritz and guns and pheasants.
so rural medicine is also a little different , while I was in the ER 2 of the male nurses were discussing duck guns and turkey guns out in the nurses station , oh that's a nice one how much does he want for it?
I also heard , yeah he got knocked over by a cow for why one of the people was in the ER
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

If you answer yes to being depressed and owning guns, you have opened the door to losing a constitutional right.
Medical personnel will never be allowed in my home, and I will never answer any unrelated questions.

Here, they ask you all the stupid questions like do you feel safe in your home which is related to do you have guns? Then they transfer to another person who asks the exact questions again. Along the same lines, I went to a bank to cash a check and the bank asked me if tax had been withheld from the check. What business is it of a bank?
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

A wellness visit on Medicare isn’t a physical. Medicare doesn’t pay for your physical. Medicare does, however, cover annual wellness visits, which are a different type of exam focused on preventive care. These visits are available every 12 months after your first year with Medicare Part, so basically there a waste of time. I been retired 3 years and refuse to waste Medicare funds on this drivel.

You guys sure make a big deal out of nothing. Since Medicare pays for it I see it as a waste of my tax dollars. And it is intentional.

As for lab work, I think they have the actual appointment first so they can pinpoint what type of tests they need do.
There are probably 100s of tests they can do with your blood. So why not try and pinpoint those tests.

There are probably 100s of tests they can do with your blood. So why not try and pinpoint those tests. They didn't take any blood, that was done a week later. All they did is as questions that have nothing to do with medical. Unless you consider a throw rug a medical item since you could trip on it. It is just to collect another insurance payment that my taxes pay for. The gal askinng the questions said she was not a Doctor or Nurse. So that makes her admin.
